European Cooperation Day will be celebrated across Europe and in neighboring countries for the first time ever on 21st
September 2012. With 75 European Territorial Cooperation programmes on board, more than 100 local events will take
place all over Europe during the week of 17th --- 23rd September. The aim of the campaign, which carries the slogan
‘‘Sharing borders, growing closer,’’ is to celebrate the achievements of cooperation between European regions and
countries. Since the beginning of the 1990s, more than 20,000 projects, co-funded by the EU, have contributed to
improving the lives of European citizens across borders, from creating jobs to protecting the environment to improving
health care services, transport and energy.
Međimurje County boasts the highest number of implemented CBC projects in Croatia due to its favorable geographic
position at the border with two EU countries and proactive stakeholders from public and private sectors. In order to
further promote territorial cooperation with our neighboring countries and present some of the results achieved so far,
ongoing initiatives and plans for the future Technology Innovation Centre Međimurje, Regional Development Agency
Međimurje REDEA, Međimurje University of Applied Sciences, Međimurske vode and Međimurje County with the support
of the Joint Technical Secretariat of Hungary-Croatia IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme kindly invite you to

European Cooperation Day in Međimurje
which will be held on Thursday 20th September 2012

The European Cooperation day will stage one central event focused on presentation of results, ongoing activities and
plans in crossborder cooperation and two additional events: presentation of cooperation of Međimurje University of
Applied Sciences and University of Pannonia Nagykanizsa Campus, and presentation of Waste water treatment plant in
Podturen build in scope of MURA WWTP Project. On the Central event of the European Cooperation Day in Čakovec, two
projects financed in the framework the First Call for Proposals of the Hungary-Croatia IPA Cross-border Co-operation
Programme will be presented (Mura WWTP and Mobile region) and one financed within the Second Call for Proposals
(I3CT). Project Mobile region was also presented in the publication of the DG Regional Policy: European Territorial
Cooperation- Building Bridges between the People.
Official languages of events are Croatian and English with no translation provided. Participation in the event is free of
